Review :: HelloFresh Food Boxes

HelloFresh is a meal delivery service that I stumbled upon when I was trying to cash in my Pampers Reward Points {that's what happens when you have two kids in diapers for two years... you accumulate A LOT of rewards!} I had never heard of them, but I decided hey, for free with these points, I can feed Andrew and I for three nights... I'll take it!

We decided to do the meals for two {but you can do meals for 4 if you'd like!} and they send three meals with the recipes on how to fix everything. It's basically fool-proof! Here is how it works::

1. We create amazing recipes

Each week our chefs create amazing recipes for you that are easy to prepare. Our meals are interesting yet simple. And we ensure that your diet is balanced and varied.

2. We do the shopping for you

Tired of wasting time at the grocery store? We do it all for you; from creating the recipes and planning the meals, to grocery shopping and even delivering all of the pre-measured ingredients right to your door!

3. Free Delivery!

We delivery everything straight to your door, so you can skip the trip.

4. You prepare delicious meals in your own home

We are Cooking Made Easy. Quick and easy recipes, no fancy equipment or techniques, and no obscure ingredients. Our mission is to help you get nutritious and delicious meals on the table.
So with a few clicks, we were ready to go and waiting on our shipment. We chose the boxes with meat but there are also box options for vegetarians. What I did like about this company is that they ship nationwide - with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii.
We received our box on the scheduled date and we were pretty excited! The recipes for our box were not something that we would typically buy {maybe that's a con? Recipes vary each week and you have a limited section to choose from} but we were excited to try them anyway. Our box came with:
- Teriyaki chicken with bok choy & coconut rice
- Herb crusted pork-chops with roasted parsnips, carrots and sautéed lemon brussel sprouts
- Lebanese meatballs with bulger wheat and sautéed green beans

Pros -
Delivered on exact date that we were told
All the food was fresh and easily organized
Recipes were easy to follow
Food tasted good

Cons -
Recipes typically took longer than 30 minutes to cook
We were not thrilled with the overall originality of the meals
The recipe options aren't super, incredibly, amazing
This will automatically sign you up for WEEKLY meal delivery at $70 {for the two person box} unless you cancel that immediately after ordering your first meal {you will be charged for your second box before you even get your first}

Overall - If you want food delivered to your door that is fresh, no chemicals, healthy choices for your family and you don't mind spending 30-45 minutes preparing each meal, I would totally say to give this a try! Just remember to cancel your subscription if you don't want to be charged for another box.
Now through 2/1 you can use the code SUPER40 for 40% off your order and give it a try!
