13.1

I cannot believe I'm writing this.. But, it's OFFICIAL! I'm registered for my very first HALF MARATHON.

AHHHHHHH. WHAT AM I DOING?!? <-- kidding. But, really....

For those of you who have been following my journey up until this point, you know that I started the C25K program a year ago. I was never a runner (hello.. I'm plus size and have never been skinny a day in my life) but always wanted to give it a go, so I did. I completed it and ran my first 5K in October 2013. It was FREEZING, amazing and hard. The course was not friendly for a first time racer. I finished anyway and was really proud! Since then I've also done the Color Run 5K, but in the back of my mind I've always wanted to do one of these LONG runs. Why?!? I really don't know. Maybe to prove to myself that I really CAN do it? Maybe to show all the haters that it IS possible? Maybe to be able to look back on my life and say, "Wow! Look what I've accomplished!". Maybe to show my kids that they can do absolutely anything they put their minds to. It's honestly a mixture of all of those things.

I am in absolutely no place to be running a half marathon right now, but I am committing to some serious training! I really do enjoy running.. It helps clear my mind and gives me some time just for ME. As a mom of two kids under 3, I'd be lying if I said I didn't need that kind of time!

On Monday, August 4th I will begin the Couch to 5K program again. I will complete that program by the end of September and begin the 5k to 10k bridge program the beginning of October. I will finish that around the end of November. Then I will begin my training for the half. AH! I will do a 10k to Half Marathon schedule from December-March.

Race day is March 28th in Savannah, Georgia as part of the Publix Savannah Women's Half & 5K.

Will it be hard? Absolutely. Will I want to quit? I'm 99.9% positive that thought will cross my mind daily. Will it be incredibly rewarding to finish that race in March as a NEW me? YES.

I'm excited to meet this person I'm likely to become. I'm excited to set HIGH goals for myself. I'm excited for CHANGE. I'm excited to prove to EVERYONE that fit has no size and this is POSSIBLE for ANYONE. I'm excited to be an ambassador for change for others who want to do this but don't have the guts just yet. I'm excited to see how this experience will CHANGE my LIFE.

13.1 miles will certainly redefine my life and I'm excited to share my journey with you here!

"13.1 miles - I'm only HALF crazy" :)
