Fear and Failure

Man - it's JUNE! Where have I been!? Sorry, I went MIA in the blogging world. Life happens ya know?? Which is what inspired this post.

Fear and failure. Ouch. That's a tad depressing to talk about, isn't it? I mean people want to read happy-go-lucky, inspiring, encouraging stuff right?! Well, I hope you will feel those things once you've finished reading this too. Just a different prospective this time.

You see I struggle with fear and failure on the DAILY. I have fought the daily fight with my weight my entire life. Almost 27 years. That is a LONG time to deal with something as crucial as your health and weight. But it's not just that. I've experienced fear and failure in many other areas of my life too.

If you go back to elementary/middle/high school I immediately think of my struggle with math. I don't know what it is about it but my brain does not compute anything math related - especially algebra! I spent days in elementary school held back from recess because I had to work on math, days in middle school in tutoring lessons before and after school, days in high school taking summer school, having my teachers come to my house for extra tutoring and the college.. well, let's just leave it at I had to take college algebra A LOT of times before I finally was able to pass. Major failure!!

I developed a fear of being taken advantage of in the workplace after having a really rough experience in corporate america. I cried every single day because my boss made me feel like a total failure. It was awful and the fear and failure I felt on a daily basis in that environment made me scared to death to ever have to return to such a place.

I jumped into Beachbody coaching not knowing ANYTHING but having the passion and drive to tell others about how much I LOVED the products and how they were changing my life. I made a huge life decision that I wasn't going to allow other people to determine my success, my worth or my abilities! Across the board I made the decision that I was now in charge of MY life and MY emotions.

I became a fighter. I looked at my husband and kids and said to the world, "Who cares if I have PCOS/have a lot of weight to lose/have no experience in health and fitness/have had awful experiences in the past. I AM A FIGHTER. I decided in my heart and mind that I would FINISH what I started NO MATTER WHAT.

I will finish my weight loss journey. It may be rough and there may be set backs and plateaus I'm not expecting but I will KEEP fighting.

I will FIGHT to become a successful Beachbody coach. I have personally had a hand in changing over 50 lives so far in the past five months. Just thinking about that gives me chills. I'm so blessed and honored to have the opportunity to do what I do. I will continue to push through my fears to hit my BIG goals and dreams I have for myself with my business. I am on a mission to help as many people as possible!!

I know some of you might be afraid of failure... I have DEFINITELY been there - HUSH that voice inside your head! From this point forward, EMBRACE it and use it to fuel your fire! Do not be that same person that backs down from a challenge because of a little negative self - talk... PUSH THROUGH!

"Only those who dare to fail greatly achieve greatly. If you have never failed you have never lived.”

When you want to give up because you think you don't have what it takes, remember how many people are turned down, fired, let go, dismissed each day and decide that it won't define you! CHOOSE to be one of THOSE people. It will EMPOWER you to keep going and live your passion for life!

This video is always a GREAT reminder to me about why I need to continue to keep my head down and keep pushing through. Take a few minutes and watch it!

one of the biggest fears people have in their lives is failure.
  • Afraid they won't succeed if they try something new
  • Fear that they might never "make it" doing what they are passionate about
  • Fear that keeps them from following their heart
Life is too short to let fear make big decisions for you.
Today I CHALLENGE you to face whatever your fears are. Look them straight in the face and tackle them. Are you bold enough to share what those fears are? I'd love for you to share them so I can help push and encourage you!
"Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure." George Edward Woodberry
"What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?" Vincent van Gogh
"It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed." Theodore Roosevelt
"Do one thing every day that scares you." Eleanor Roosevelt
"I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying." Michael Jordan
"In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure." Bill Cosby
